What is a well-architected framework?
The pillars of a well-architected framework are used to describe key concepts and design principles that help organizations design and run workloads in the cloud that are based on the architectural best practices that commercial cloud provider architects and engineers have learned through continuous analysis and improvements since their cloud services first debuted.
Operational Excellence
Does your architecture work? Will it continue to work?
Security
Does your workload work ONLY as intended?
Reliability
Does your workload(s) work consistently and recover quickly?
Performance Efficiency
Can you remove bottlenecks and reduce waste within your workloads?
Cost Optimization
Does your architected workload solution deliver business value for the lowest price point?
What is a Well-Architected Review (WAR)
The WAR should be conducted every 6-12 months for an organization’s workloads running in the cloud. Depending on the scope of the workload, the review generally requires 3-4 hours to complete, and will result in a “Get Well Plan” for the organization to use for prioritizing and planning improvements. A WAR is intended to be a continuous improvement process. Does your workload implementation continue to match your organization’s intent? And the pillars provide the principles to obtain a balanced solution to align with that intent.
Why should STG perform a WAR for your organization?
STG will provide WARs for your organization free of cost with a minimal time commitment of 4 hours for your key cloud personnel to meet with STG Cloud Architects. STG will provide your organization with the “Get Well Plan” and, if requested, review the details of the plan with your organization. As a partners with AWS, Azure, and GCP, STG is prepared to help your organization complete any of the work reflected in the “Get Well Plan.”
